block prints

For the past week, I have been working on a block print of our dog Sam. This is in honor of her life and I plan on giving a print to all who knew and loved her. Sam is still with us, thank goodness, but I'm planning ahead. The prints are working with just the right amount of ink. I need to adjust some of the lines so that I can apply more ink consistently. It's been fun printing. It's always a surprise process for me.

Our beloved dog, Sam, is 9 years old this June. We just found out that she has cancer and time is now limited. She is a lovable, wonderful animal. I pray that she lives pain-free from now until the end. She has a big heart and has taught me much. Here she is in her mardi-gra beads. Majestic in the snow.

thinking about summer

Today I seem to be thinking about summer plans. Where to stay in Maine. What to do with my campers in July. Who's visiting when. It's only April and already the summer seems full. We're all excited to have our exchange student come to live with us in August. That brings up a whole other bunch of things to do. Rooms to rearrange and redecorate. Find places for the stuff that just seems to land in the room and multiply. Lots of planning going on yet at times I feel like I can't plan at all. See what life brings with each day and go with it. Today is half done and still dinner to buy and make. I need to find something to bring for the display case in Guilford.

Today in the studio

Today I will be organizing for class which starts at 12:30pm. We'll be working on our drawings that will be used for carving into blocks for printing. The students made paper for the last two weeks and we'll use that to print on. I also need to find something for use in the display case in Guilford. Thinking about creating something new, but maybe will just use a small canvas that's already done. First, I need to get off this computer!
